ULiège Library is further improving access to its electronic document delivery service through the Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
One of our key partners within the ILL framework is RapidILL. In 2025, it supplied more than 80% of our requests. From now on, files delivered through this international network are automatically checked to ensure their readability and accessibility for all users.
n practical terms, when a document is provided by RapidILL, the system automatically detects whether the file can already be used with text-reading and text-search tools. If this is not the case, optical character recognition (OCR) processing is applied before delivery in order to make the document searchable and more accessible.
This development represents a significant benefit for all students and researchers: requested documents are easier to browse, search and use with assistive reading tools. It also helps to enhance the overall interlibrary loan experience by improving the accessibility of the digital resources provided to the entire university community.
