As a doctoral student, researcher, or professor, making your research accessible and increasing its visibility is essential. In this context, ORBi, ULiège’s institutional repository, is an valuable resource at your disposal.

Expectations of the institution and funding agencies

On May 23, 2007, the Board of Directors of the University of Liège , decided to create an institutional bibliography for ULiège and to implement an institutional policy for depositing the University’s publications in order to increase their visibility, accessibility, and impact

Depositing on ORBi (Open Repository and Bibliography) is mandatory for:

• references for all publications by ULiège members since 2002;
• the full texts of journal articles published by ULiège members since 2002.

Currently, most institutions and research funding agencies have provisions regarding open access to publications resulting from the research they fund. Depositing your publications in open access on ORBi allows you to meet these obligations.

Increased visibility for your research 

Institutional repositories are designed to ensure their content is disseminated as widely as possible, which means that the publications deposited there are indexed by numerous external sources—from search engines to general or specialized catalogs, including open access directories.

Depositing the full text of your publications in Open Access improves indexing and thereby drastically increases the visibility and recognition of your research—sometimes even more so than the journal in which you published.  

How to Upload to ORBi

Recognizing the already heavy workload faced by professors, researchers, and doctoral students at our institutions, the ORBi submission process has been optimized to ensure a smooth and quick experience:

• Several import options (via an identifier such as a DOI, via a file exported from a database, via PDF)
• A simple, easy-to-fill-out submission form (numerous drop-down menus, contextual help, etc.)
• The option to designate a representative to complete the initial steps of the submission
